Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Trailer! Plus Monster Popcorn Podcast Live!

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary

Ghostbusters is celebrating its 30th anniversary and Sony Pictures has announced that they are bringing the classic supernatural comedy back to theaters for a limited engagement in over 700 locations in the United States and Canada. The original 1984 film has been restored and remastered in 4K and will return to theaters starting August 29! So come labor day weekend, it’ll be time to hang out with Peter Venkman and crew as they take on the Stay Puft marshmallow man once again on the big screen!

In addition to the re-release, Sony will be releasing a special Digibook Blu-ray set that features both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 remastered in 4K (they will also be available as single BDs) as well as a limited collector’s edition gift set with an exclusive Slimer figure. Those will hit stores on September 16th.

I’m pretty excited about getting to see Ghostbusters on the big screen but I’m even more excited about another special event coming up just before Comic Con! The Monster Popcorn Podcast will be putting on its first annual LIVE podcast and we will be discussing, yep you guessed it, Ghostbusters!

On Tuesday, July 22nd, hosts Ben, Daniel and Mel will descend upon San Diego to discuss the movie in front of a live audience! We plan on having a lot of fun with those in attendance and will be incorporating some fun stuff for our listeners as well so be sure to keep an eye out for the live episode’s release the following Tuesday, July 29th.

So until all the Ghostbuster fun starts up, here’s a look at the new re-release trailer! Who you gonna call?!?! Monster Popcorn! Oh.. who am I kidding? Ghostbusters!
