Jason Statham in another film where he beats up on bad guys? That may not exactly be something new (though it’s always welcome), but what sets his new film, Homefront, apart from the rest is that the screenplay is written by his Expendables co-star, Sylvester Stallone. On top of that, the movie is directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury) and sports a pretty decent cast with the likes of Kate Bosworth, Winona Ryder, Clancy Brown, Frank Grillo, Rachelle Lefevre.. and James Franco as a sociopathic drug kingpin named Gator Bodine.
I’m definitely interested in seeing the movie for Stallone’s screenplay, for Statham and, if I’m being completely honest, for James Franco as the villain. Franco and Statham have to come to blows by the end of the film, right? So color me curious to see if Franco’s character will match Statham’s braun with evil charisma. Homefront definitely feels like it could fall into generic territory but I’m hopeful that there will be some R-rated fun to be had. I guess we’ll find out when the movie hits theaters this Thanksgiving.
