Scream Factory Announces New Blu-ray Double Feature! Visiting Hours and Bad Dreams!

Visiting Hours still 2

Scream Factory made a surprise announcement today on their Facebook page that they are releasing a hospital horror double feature on Blu-ray consisting of Bad Dreams and Visiting Hours! I’m super excited about this, mainly for Visiting Hours, which I wrote about previously in my Summer of the 80s column (you can read that here). I had a lot of fun watching that one and never anticipated that it would ever be released in high definition. Apparently, Scream Factory resides in my brain and releases all the horror movies I wish would make their way to Blu-ray because they keep announcing all these titles that I consider to be must owns for genre fans! I’m not familiar with Bad Dreams but I’m all for discovering a new 80s horror flick and the purchase price for these two films is well worth it to own Visiting Hours on Blu-ray.

Here’s Scream Factory’s announcement:

Two underrated gems – 1988’s BAD DREAMS (starring Nightmare on Elm Street 3’s Jennifer Rubin) and 1982’s VISITING HOURS (starring Scanners’ Michael Ironside and William Shatner!) – will be making their Blu-ray debuts as a double feature in early 2014. That’s a lot of hospital horrors if you also include our previously released X-RAY and HALLOWEEN II into the mix.

Some of you may be aware that Shout Factory released this double feature already on DVD only in 2011 as a “Killer Double Feature”. All the extras from that release will be ported over including new extras that are in the works for VISITING HOURS (which had only TV spots and a still gallery at the time.). No firm details to report on them at this time.

Artwork is not final but expect it to look close to what’s presented here.

That’s how I saw Visiting Hours the first time, via Netflix streaming. You should watch it. It’s fun.

I need to see both of these! Apparently Visiting Hours will be streaming on Netflix tomorrow if anyone cares.
