The Trailer for Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine!

The trailer for Woody Allen’s latest dramedy Blue Jasmine has arrived online!  The movie follows Jasmine, a New York socialite who finds herself moving in with her sister and modest family after her marriage to a corrupt businessman falls apart and leaves her broke.  Now that Jasmine has gone from riches to rags, she is having trouble dealing with her new lifestyle of the poor and shameless.  The movie, which is written and directed by Woody Allen, stars Cate Blanchett, Sally Hawkins, Alec Baldwin, Andrew Dice Clay, Bobby Cannavale, Louis C.K. and Peter Sarsgaard.

I’m a long time fan of Woody Allen and will happily sit through anything he makes so when marketing starts to ramp up for his films, it means I don’t have much longer to wait to see his latest movie.  This new film has Allen going back to his New York roots as well as to San Francisco and features a pretty great cast, something that is of-the-norm when it comes to Allen’s filmography.  I’m intrigued by Louis C.K. in the movie as I consider him to be a Woody Allen-esque comedian and feel he’s right at home in one of Allen’s films.  The trailer looks good and has a slightly more dramatic angle than I anticipated, which is neither a negative or a positive.  I’m just looking forward to seeing a new movie from one of cinema’s greats when it opens in limited release on July 26.

I don’t if mimic is the right word, but I would say Louis C.K. is like that. His TV show Louie looks to have been influenced by Woody Allen.

This is a must-see. Who out there mimics Woody Allen’s style and perspective? Just wondered.
