Warner Bros wanted in on Christopher Nolan’s next sci-fi film Interstellar, which is set up at Paramount, so much that the studio gave Paramount its rights to co-finance the next Friday the 13th movie as well as a portion of a future South Park movie.  Paramount looks to have the rights for both movie franchises for the next five years and has that time to make any follow-up movies they decide to pursue. Emma Stone has been forced to drop out of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Crimson Peak due to scheduling issues.  Her replacement has been found in actress Mia Wasikowska (Stoker) who will play opposite of Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim) in the haunted house movie. (The Wrap)

The Jim Henson Co. and BBC1 are teaming up to produce That Puppet Game Show.  Each week two celebrity human contestants will be featured in a mix of puppet comedy and madcap games with the aim of winning for a chosen charity.  The show will also include a backstage sitcom, featuring both the puppet characters that are in the gameshow and other puppets like the producer and show executive.  Filming is already underway with eight 45-minute episodes set to debut later this year. The first still of Evangeline Lilly (Lost) as the Elf Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has appeared online.  Her character was created specifically for the movie which hits theaters on December 13. (EW)

Vertigo’s comic book series Fables is headed to the big screen with director Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) attached to helm the fantasy project.  Jeremy Slater, the writer on the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, has been hired to script the film and Harry Potter producer David Heyman will develop the movie. Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, The Hunger Games) has signed to star in The Rules of Inheritance.  Susanne Bier will direct the film based on Claire Bidwell Smith’s memoir about a young woman who loses her family but finds herself in the process. (Deadline)

Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad, Mr. Show) will star in Girlfriend’s Day for director Michael Stephenson (Best Worst Movie, The American Scream).  Odenkirk wrote the screenplay for the offbeat comedy about a romance writer who gets entangled in a web of murder and deceit as writers vie to create the perfect card for a new holiday, Girlfriend’s Day. A set photo from X-Men: Days of Future Past reveals a look at Michael Fassbender’s Magneto as he floats in the air.  The Bryan Singer directed sequel, which stars Fassbender, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters and Boo Boo Stewart, opens on July 18, 2014. (Bryan Singer)

The 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with a 3D re-release in IMAX theaters for one week starting September 20.  It will then hit home video on October 1 as a five-disc box set that will include Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and DVD discs. (USA Today)

Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment announced new release dates for The Expendables 3 and Escape Plan.  The third Expendables film will hit theaters on August 15, 2014 and has Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich joining Sylvester Stallone in the movie.  Escape Plan, which stars Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, is moving from its September 13 date to October 18. Benicio Del Toro has joined James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel Studios.  His role is being kept under wraps but his character would be a part of future Marvel films.  Del Toro joins Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly and Glenn Close in the cosmic superhero story. (Deadline)

The trailer for the action thriller Getaway has popped up online.  The film, which opens in theaters on August 30, stars Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez and Jon Voight.
