Trailer-Palooza!

There have been a crap ton of trailers released recently, some high-profile movies and some not so high-profile, but here are a few of the trailers that have popped up in the past couple of days (some of the movies have already had trailers released, but these are all new trailers released this week).  Man of Steel just keeps looking better and better and Zack Snyder might just pull off what most thought couldn’t be done, a great Superman film.  I’m also really looking forward to The Kings of Summer and the Maniac remake.  We have a lot of fun looking movies to look forward to that’s for sure!  Which one are you most excited for?

Maniac

A 21st century Jack the Ripper set in the present day, Maniac is a reboot of the cult film considered by many to be the most suspenseful slasher movie ever made. Frank (Elijah Wood) is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates and the number of victims increases, it becomes clear that Frank is far more dangerous than he seems. With a pulsating electronic score by Rob, the film is an intimate, visually daring, psychologically complex and profoundly horrific trip into the downward spiraling nightmare of a killer and his victims.  The Franck Khalfoun directed film opens in theaters and VOD on June 21.

Man of Steel

A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.  Zack Snyder directs the film which stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Harry Lennix and Christopher Meloni.  Man of Steel flies into theaters on June 14.

The Lone Ranger

This movie is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice — taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.  Gore Verbinski directs Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Tom Wilkinson, Helena Bonham Carter and William Fichtner in this action adventure, which opens on July 3.

The Wolverine

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality. James Mangold directs from a story by Christopher McQuarrie.  The movie, which stars Hugh Jackman, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Rila Fukushima, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Will Yun Lee, Tao Okamoto, Hal Yamanouchi and Famke Janssen, opens on July 26.

The Kings of Summer

Jordan Vogt-Roberts directs this unique coming-of-age comedy about three teenage friends – Joe, Patrick and the eccentric and unpredictable Biaggio – who, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land. Free from their parents’ rules, their idyllic summer quickly becomes a test of friendship as each boy learns to appreciate the fact that family – whether it is the one you’re born into or the one you create – is something you can’t run away from.  The movie stars Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, Moises Arias, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Alison Brie and Mary Lynn Rajskub and opens in theaters on May 31.

Anchorman 2

This sequel continues the on-set adventures of San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy, and his crew.  Adam McKay returns to direct the sequel that features Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Christina Applegate, Vince Vaughn, John C. Reilly, Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jim Carrey, Sacha Baron Cohen, Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson. Anchorman 2 opens on December 20.

Byzantium

Two mysterious women seek refuge in a run-down coastal resort. Clara meets lonely Noel, who provides shelter in his deserted guesthouse, Byzantium. Schoolgirl Eleanor befriends Frank and tells him their lethal secret. They were born 200 years ago and survive on human blood. As knowledge of their secret spreads, their past catches up on them with deathly consequence. The Neil Jordan-directed vampire film stars Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Arterton, Caleb Landry Jones, Sam Riley and Jonny Lee Miller.  It opens in theaters on June 28.
