Sylvester Stallone took to Twitter to confirm that Mickey Rourke, Wesley Snipes and Jackie Chan are on board for The Expendables 3.  He also went to imply he may be looking acquire one or two of the cast members from The Raid and even implied he hoped to outdo the hardcore action found in that film, “We believe we can do better than the RAID, which was an excellent film… Raising the bar…” (Sylvester Stallone)

Olivia Wilde (Tron Legacy) and Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed) are set to headline Lionsgate’s upcoming horror thriller Reawakening.  David Gelb (Jiro Dreams of Sushi) is directing the film that centers on a team of scientists who discover an experimental serum with the potential to bring the dead back to life.  The team’s lead scientist tests the serum on the corpse of their daughter, which leads to terrifying results. The poster for the horror comedy, Hell Baby, has popped up online.  The movie comes from Reno 911! creators Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant.  They wrote and directed the comedy that stars Rob Corddry, Leslie Bibb, Keegan Michael Key, Riki Lindhome, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Michael Ian Black and Kumail Nanjiani.  (Geek Tyrant)

New filmmaker Mukunda Michael Dewil, who wrote and directed the upcoming Vehicle 19, recently spoke about being involved in an adaptation of Frank Miller and Geof Darrow’s comic, Hard Boiled.  He says, “I’m adapting Frank Miller’s comic book called Hard Boiled with Stephen L’Heureux from Solipsist films. They just did Sin City 2 and they own a lot of Frank’s comics. That’s a very big project that’s going be out to market in a couple of weeks… it’s quite a big deal. We’re kind of pumped for that.” (Bleeding Cool)

While the fate of NBC’s Hannibal is still up in the air, if NBC decides not to renew the show, there is at least one (undisclosed) cable network looking to pick the show up.  Amazon has also expressed interest in taking it on if it becomes available. (Deadline)

Sony has secured distribution rights to Angry Birds, the 3D animated film based on the video game by Rovio Entertainment.  They have set a July 1, 2016 release date. (Hollywood Reporter)

Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) has lined up his next writing/directing gig with Fox.  He will adapt Andy Weir’s e-book The Martian, which is about an astronaut struggling to survive after being stranded on Mars. (The Wrap)

A new poster and trailer for Riddick starring Vin Diesel and Battlestar Galactica‘s Katee Sackhoff has appeared online.  The David Twohy written and directed sequel opens in theaters on September 6. (Ain’t It Cool)

Samuel L. Jackson is in final negotiations to co-star in Barely Lethal with Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit).  Kyle Newman will direct the picture that follows a 16-year old international assassin yearning for a normal adolescence and fakes her own death and enrolls as a senior in a suburban high school.  Jackson would play her mentor who trains her in the program. A sequel to The ABC’s of Death is currently in the works.  The first film brought 26 directors telling 26 tales of death and this new sequel will feature behind-the-scenes talent from Alex de la Iglesia, Rodney Ascher (of Room 237), animator Bill Plympton, Lithuania’s Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper, Japan’s arthouse provocateur Sion Sono, Vincenzo Natali, indie horror icon Larry Fessenden, Marcus Dunstan, France’s Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, E.L. Katz, twin auteurs Jen and Sylvia Soska, Israel’s Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, Julian Gilbey, Brazil’s most controversial filmmaker Dennison Ramalho, Jerome Sable and animator Robert Morgan. Scarlett Johansson has come aboard Jon Favreau’s Chef and will star alongside Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo and Bobby Cannavale.  Johansson will play Molly, a restaurant manager and love interest of Favreau’s character. (Hollywood Reporter)

Warner Bros. looks to be moving forward on a Gremlins remake instead of Gremlins 3.  No one has been tapped to direct yet but Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) is set to produce the film alongside David Katzenberg. (Bloody Disgusting)

Composer Michael Giacchino (Star Trek Into Darkness) revealed on his Twitter account that he will be providing the score for Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.  The sequel will hit theaters on May 23, 2014. (Michael Giacchino)

A brand-new epic trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim has premiered online.  The giant robots vs. giant monsters summer blockbuster opens on July 12.
