Kelsey Grammer has joined the cast of Transformers 4 as a human villain named Harold Attinger, a counterintelligence officer.  Grammer joins Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz and Stanley Tucci in the Michael Bay directed sequel. (Deadline)

Chris Hardwick will host a new nightly, half-hour show for Comedy Central following The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.  The midnight show is currently untitled but will be co-produced by Funny or Die and will debut this fall. (NY Post)

The first image featuring a Klingon sans helmet in the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness has appeared online.  The picture comes from a screen grab from a new TV promo for the movie. (Bleeding Cool)

Abrams Star Trek Klingon unmasked

Joss Whedon recently hinted that Thanos won’t have much of a role in The Avengers 2 and will more than likely be saved for the big finale in The Avengers 3, “Well, Thanos is more powerful. He is so powerful, he is not someone you can just trot out and punch him. Like he did in the comics, you want him to be threading through the universe and to save the big finale for the big finale. But he is definitely part of what I have going on.” (Desde Hollywood)

J.J. Abrams has hinted that John Williams will be back to score the new Star Wars: Episode VII, “Again, for Star Wars, it’s very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was.” (TrekMovie.com)

Director Mike Cahill, who previously directed Another Earth, has found his follow-up project in I Origins.  The movie will somehow involve molecular biologists uncovering something crazy.  So far the cast includes Brit Marling (who starred and co-wrote Another Earth), Michael Pitt, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Archie Panjabi and The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun. Ron Perlman recently spoke about his desire for Hellboy 3.  “[Del Toro and I] both walked away from Hellboy 2 agreeing that there would never be another one,” he says. “But, with the passage of time, it became clear to me that he really always designed it as a trilogy. [Guillermo] has a very well-articulated idea of what the resolve would look like and it’s amazingly theatrical and is epic in scope and would make for amazing cinema, with or without the first two movies.”  He then added, “I said [to Guillermo], ‘You owe it to the world to finish this trilogy.  I’ve been giving him Jewish guilt.” (IGN)

Warner Bros. has revealed the newest poster for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.  The superhero flick opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 14. (Yahoo! Movies)

Disney and director Kenneth Branagh have found their lead actress in the live-action Cinderella.  The titular character will be played by Lily James (Downton Abbey) and Cate Blanchett will star in the iconic role of the evil stepmother. (CBM)

Wes Craven recently responded on Twitter to the talk of a Scream TV series that is in the works at MTV.  He said, “It’s true I’ve been approached.  My response was, it would depend on the script.  If they have a great script/concept, it could be fun.  If not, not.” (Wes Craven)

Michael Fassbender has been set to play the lead in Macbeth with Natalie Portman playing Lady Macbeth.  Set in the 11th century and in the original language, the film is gearing up to begin shooting later this year with Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) at the helm. (Screen Daily)

A new Red-band (NSFW) trailer for the horror thriller Aftershock hit the web recently.  The Nicolas Lopez directed film stars Eli Roth (who also co-produces the film), Andrea Osvart, Ariel Levy and Selena Gomez.  It follows an American tourist who joins two new friends as they go club-hopping in the outskirts of Chile.  When a large earthquake hits the small town, chaos ensues as people turn on each other.  Aftershock will be released on May 10.
