Sylvester Stallone recently hinted at the new director for The Expendables 3 on Twitter.  While no official announcement has been made, he has implied that Red Hill director Patrick Hughes will be taking the helm of the sequel. (Sylvester Stallone)

Joss Whedon recently commented on the progress of The Avengers 2 stating, “I have finished a draft and I’m redoing it now.  I think it’s in really good shape.  We’re in a very good place.”  He also hinted at two new characters that will show up in the movie, “I’ve got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book, a brother-sister act.  They’re in the movie.” Speculation has that the brother-sister combo he’s referring to is Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. A poster for the horror anthology sequel, V/H/S 2, has popped up online.  The film sports behind-the-scenes talent from Edúardo Sanchez and Gregg Hale (Blair Witch Project), Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre), Gareth Huw Evans (The Raid), Jason Eisener (Hobo with a Shotgun) and Simon Barrett and Adam Wingard (You’re Next).  The movie hits theaters on July 12. Shia LeBeouf is in talks to join Brad Pitt in the WWII thriller Fury for director David Ayer (End of Watch).  The story follows the commander of a Sherman tank and its five-man crew on a mission behind enemy lines as Nazi Germany collapses. (Variety)

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige spoke at a press conference and confirmed that the rights to the character of Daredevil had left 20th Century Fox and have returned to Marvel.  No word yet on whether the character would be used in any upcoming movies or his own solo movie. (Badass Digest)

Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) is set to star alongside Tom Cruise in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  Guy Ritchie will direct the movie based on the original TV series that ran from 1964-68. (Deadline)

Director Bryan Singer revealed two new X-Men characters, Bishop and Warpath, will have roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past.  (Bryan Singer)

Another new poster for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming giant monsters vs. giant robots actioneer, Pacific Rim, has been released by Warner Bros. The movie hits IMAX, 3D and 2D theaters on July 12. (Comingsoon.net)

Emma Stone is in talks to join Woody Allen’s next film.  She would play the leading lady in the currently-untitled movie that is aiming to shoot in the South of France. (Deadline)

MTV has greenlit a one-hour pilot for a potential TV series based on the successful horror franchise, Scream.  Dimension Films is in talks with Wes Craven to direct the pilot. (MTV)

Fox and Red Hour Films, Ben Stiller’s production outfit, have hired Clay Tarver to write a script for the long-talked-about sequel to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.  The sequel will focus on Vaughn and Stiller who are forced to team up to fight an even bigger threat. (Hollywood Reporter)

HBO is teaming up with Guillermo del Toro for a potential series based on Naoki Urasawa’s eighteen-volume manga, Monster.  Del Toro would co-write the story with Steven Thompson (Sherlock, Doctor Who) with del Toro intending to direct the pilot.  The story deals with the worldwide search by a young doctor for the most evil sociopath that has ever lived – a 12-year old boy.  The doctor’s decision to save his life has unleashed a Pandora’s Box that leaves the doctor battling to stop a plot of mass genocide. Lee Pace (The Hobbit) appears to be in final negotiations to play the villain in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.  The identity of Pace’s villainous character is currently being kept under wraps.  Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy) has also joined the cast of the film in an unknown role. (The Wrap)

The Onion website has branched into traditional scripted content and have teamed with Amazon for a new online show called the Onion News Empire.  The TV network comedy stars William Sadler, Jeffrey Tambor, Cheyenne Jackson, Laila Robins and Chris Masterson.  You can watch the pilot for free at Amazon’s website.
