Anne Hathaway is in talks to star in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci-fi flick, Interstellar.  She would join Matthew McConaughey in the film which is set for November 7, 2014 release. (Deadline)

Lionsgate has announced that they have moved the comic book adaptation I, Frankenstein from September 13 of this year to January 24, 2014.  Written for the screen and directed by Stuart Beattie, the movie stars Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto and Jai Courtney. Universal Pictures is in negotiations with James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious) to direct the seventh Fast and Furious movie.  After learning that Fast and Furious 6 director Justin Lin would not return to the franchise, the studio has been looking at a variety of directors and had previously spoken to Baltazar Kormakur (Contraband), Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) and Harold Zwart (The Karate Kid) to take the helm. ABC announced that their upcoming Marvel TV show Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. has been retitled as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  A new synopsis has been revealed stating, “Prepare for an epic adventure that showcases the hope and wonder of the human spirit. This is a world of Super Heroes, aliens and the unusual – of action, spectacle and world spanning stories. The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents – that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world.” (SuperHeroHype)

Scream Factory recently announced that they will be releasing The Amityville Horror, The Amityille Horror II: The Possession and The Amityville Horror 3D in a Blu-ray collection set before Halloween, with further details on the set to be revealed this summer.  Scream Factory also showed off the custom artwork for their collector’s edition of The Fog which hits Blu-ray on July 30 (the original one-sheet artwork is on the reverse side as an option for those that prefer that). Former The Walking Dead showrunner, Glen Mazzara, is in talks to write The Overlook Hotel. The film would serve as a prequel to the Stanley Kubrick-directed The Shining, which was based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. (Deadline)

Warner Bros. President Jeff Robinov confirmed that Christopher Nolan is NOT shepherding the Justice League movie.  He also went on to state that Christian Bale would not play Batman in the DC superhero team-up movie. (EW)

Ericson Core (Invincible) will direct the feature film remake of the classic 1991 action-thriller Point Break for Alcon Entertainment.  The new version of the film is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original, involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring.  The original film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty) and starred Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey. Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez and Olivia Munn have all been set to star in Beware the Night for Jerry Bruckheimer Films.  The film, co-written and directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), is about an Irish Catholic cop (Bana) working a case when he meets a renegade priest (Ramirez). Despite the cop’s beliefs, he’s convinced by the priest that there is a demonic element and together they work to solve the case and combat the paranormal forces working against them. Munn plays the cop’s wife, who also has a tie to the case. (Deadline)

The Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger action thriller The Tomb has been retitled as Escape Plan.  The movie has also been moved up two weeks to its new release date of September 13, which puts it up against Insidious Chapter 2, Battle of the Year and Machete Kills. (Comingsoon.net)

A&E has renewed their Psycho “prequel” series Bates Motel for a ten-episode second season. The series premiere attracted 4.5 million viewers, with Live+7 figures taken into account, and 2.5 million in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographic. (The Live Feed)

Shout! Factory has set release dates for some new Blu-ray titles that include Kentucky Fried Movie (July 2), George Romero’s Knightriders and William Sachs’ The Incredible Melting Man (both on July 30). (The Digital Bits)

The Red-band trailer for Only God Forgives is now online.  Ryan Gosling teams up with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn once again for the gangster crime flick.  The movie, which also stars Kristin Scott Thomas and Vithaya Pansringarm, opens in theaters on July 19.
