2oth Century Fox has announced that Josh Trank (Chronicle) will direct the new Fantastic Four movie.  They also stated that they have a script that they like for a new Daredevil but David Slade has exited the project due to his commitments on NBC’s Hannibal. (Deadline)

Michael Fassbender is attached to star in and co-produce Ubisoft’s movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.  Ubisoft was originally in negotiations to produce the film with Sony but are now financing the film independently under their new Ubisoft Motion Pictures division. (Variety)

Warner Bros. has released the Comic-Con poster for Guillermo del Toro’s next directorial effort, Pacific Rim.  The film, opening on July 12, 2013, stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff. (SuperHeroHype)

Ed Helms has been cast as the new Rusty Griswold in New Line’s reboot of National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise.  In the new film, Rusty will be the patriarch this time around, leading his family on a misadventure.  Rumors state that Chevy Chase could return if he wanted to, though more than likely in a cameo capacity. Alex Proyas is set to adapt and direct Joe Golem and the Drowning City.  The film will be based upon the illustrated novel of the same name from creators Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden. (Deadline)

Eli Roth is in talks to direct Russell Crowe as Dracula in Harker.  Appian Way’s Leonardo DiCaprio will produce.  (Deadline)

Director Walter Hill (The Warriors) is set to remake Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? for the Aldrich Co.  Hill will adapt the screenplay from a script by Lukas Heller.  The original 1962 film was made famous by rival actresses Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. (Hollywood Reporter)

A sequel to Magic Mike is in the works according to star Channing Tatum.  He’s quoted as saying “Yes, yes and yes! We’re working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.” (Glamour UK)

Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods, Robopocalypse) rewrote the ending for the troubled World War Z that is currently being reworked.  The rewrite was initially being handled by Damon Lindelof but was handed to Goddard when Lindelof did not have the time to write it. (Deadline)

Anthony Hopkins will play Methuselah in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah.  Hopkins joins the already cast Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Saoirse Ronan, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ray Winstone. (Twitter)

Expendables 2 has a Comic-Con exclusive poster in promotion of the film.  The oil-painted poster will have a limited edition run of 250 to be handed out on the show floor. (L.A. Times)

Famous movie poster artist Drew Struzan is coming out of retirement to work with Mondo in the future.  Struzan is famous for creating many memorable posters for such films as Back to the FutureThe ThingStar WarsIndiana JonesHarry Potter to name a few. (Slashfilm)

The Hunger Games franchise’s final film, Mockingjay, will be split into two films.  Part 1 will arrive on November 21, 2014 and Part 2 on November 20, 2015. (Ain’t It Cool News)

Relativity Media is interested in having Breck Eisner (The Crazies) helm Stretch Armstrong, based off of the Hasbro toy.  Dean Georgaris (The Manchurian CandidateTomb Raider: The Cradle of Life) is adapting the screenplay and is said to be aiming for a slightly more serious tone than the original intention of the character.     World War Z sounds cool, but I’ve read a lot about its struggles. Plus, my uber-zombie-fan buddy couldn’t get through the book. Also – I’m starting to get irked by “We have to split this book into two movies!” bahh. But “The Hunger Games” movie was pretty sweet.
