Argo is the latest directorial effort from Ben Affleck, which also has him starring alongside Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Clea DuVall, Adrienne Barbeau and Tom Lenk. The film is based upon a true story involving a CIA exfiltration specialist who concocts a plan to free six Americans during the Iranian revolution by disguising themselves as a Hollywood production making a science fiction film.
I really like the premise of Argo and am just as curious to see the more serious elements of the film as I am to see the fake sci-fi film they come up with in the story. It sounds like the premise will afford Affleck to not only provide some cool hard-hitting action but also bring some fun and levity into the proceedings as well. After giving us Gone Baby Gone and The Town, Affleck has proven that he’s got the talent to bring us compelling and well-directed stories. I enjoy him as an actor but I do think that his greatest skill lies in writing and directing and his two previous efforts are strong arguments for that. Argo will be released on October 12th of this year and you can definitely count me in for this one.
