Sarah Michelle Gellar Returns To TV Tomorrow Night!

Buffy is back!  Sort of.  Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to network television with CW’s new show Ringer.  It really is kind of a homecoming for Gellar as the CW was created by joining the WB and UPN networks which were both home to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I honestly am glad to have her back on tv and in something that has some potential for being pretty interesting.  Gellar is actually playing two roles on the show, twin sisters.

Even though there is definitely a sense of intrigue surrounding Ringer, there’s been a little confusion as to what the show is about exactly.  Thankfully, the CW has given an official plot synopsis:

Bridget Kelly (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is six-months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness in a murder trial.  Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell), Bridget knows her life is on the line.  She flees to New York, telling no one, and reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar).  Wealthy, pampered and married to the strikingly handsome Andrew Martin (Ioan Gruffudd), Siobhan lives what appears to be a fairy tale life – a life where no one knows that Bridget exists.

The sisters seem to be mending their frayed relationship – until Siobhan disappears mysteriously, and Bridget makes the split decision to take on her sister’s identity.  She discovers shocking secrets, not only about her sister and her marriage, but also about Siobhan’s best friend, Gemma Butler (Tara Summers) and Gemma’s husband, Henry (Kristoffer Polaha).

I’m in Italy when the show premieres but have it set on my DVR for record.  If you are fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Sarah Michelle Gellar, I think you’d be remiss not to at least check out the pilot.  The first episode airs tomorrow at 9/8c on the CW.  Until then, check out the Comic Con trailer for the show.
