Buffy the Vampire Slayer, season 9, kicks off tomorrow with Angel & Faith #1. The flagship title of Buffy will start on Sept. 14th. Both titles will again be overseen by Joss Whedon. Angel & Faith features a whole new creative team, pairing writer Christos Gage and artist Rebekah Isaacs. I hadn’t hear of either of them before and decided to look them up.
Christos Gage has worked on comic titles for Marvel, DC, IDW, Dynamite and Wildstorm. I’ve never read any of his work before but there seems to be some great enthusiasm for what he’s doing with Angel & Faith. Scott Allie, editor of Dark Horse comics, has said repeatedly that he really likes the scripts he sees coming in. I look forward to seeing how he adapts to playing in Whedon’s sandbox.
Rebekah Isaacs is an up and coming artist who started out doing art for a Twilight Zone graphic novel and has since worked on such titles as Hack/Slash, Ms. Marvel, DMZ and DV8 to name a few. I was able to learn a little more about Rebekah by following her on Twitter (@rebekahisaacs). She comes off as a very nice and quite geeky person. She’s also the first creative professional that has responded to me on Twitter, which makes me kind of geek out a little bit considering she’s drawing the issues I cannot wait to read and stare at! I am really excited to see all that she can contribute to the series. I think the scripts will definitely benefit from her artistic talent. You can check out her gallery at her website here.
