Warner Bros announced that Ben Affleck will play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the sequel to Man of Steel. No word yet on how many films Affleck is contracted for as the character or if he would star in the eventual Justice League movie. The Zack Snyder directed film will be released on July 17, 2015. Bradley Cooper is in talks to play the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy for director James Gunn. (Latino Review)

Sylvester Stallone’s reps have clarified that Stallone will not reprise the role of John Rambo in the proposed Rambo TV series. He may still be involved with the series on a creative level however. (Hollywood Reporter)

The poster for Showtime’s upcoming season three of Homeland has appeared online featuring Mandy Patinkin, Claire Danes and Damian Lewis. The new season premieres on September 29. (Ain’t It Cool)

It’s being reported that J.J. Abrams is intent on keeping the look of the original Star Wars trilogy and will shoot Star Wars: Episode VII on 35mm film with cinematographer Dan Mindel (Star Trek, John Carter) re-teaming with Abrams on the project. (Boba Fett Fan Club)

Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation) and her sister Kikada Jones are developing an hour-long dramedy for the CW called Ladyballs. The story would follow two twenty-something estranged friends in search of love in New York who are reunited after learning that they’ve been dating the same guy. When their plot to humiliate the two-timer goes viral, they realize the “payback” business is lucrative and set up a business to continue bringing down the hand of justice. Both are set to star with Rashida Jones and Will McCormack producing the series. (IB Times)

While it was previously reported that Saoirse Ronan was being considered for the role of the Scarlet Witch in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: The Age of Ultron, it looks like Elisabeth Olson (Martha Marcy May Marlene, Silent House) has begun talks to take on the role. (Hollywood Reporter)

Alexis Denisof (Much Ado About Nothing, Angel) has joined the cast of NBC’s Grimm. He will play Viktor Albert Wilhelm George Beckendorf, the cunning first cousin to James Frain’s Renard, in the upcoming third season. (TV Line)

Set photos from Guardians of the Galaxy have appeared online showing a very blue, mohawked Michael Rooker playing his character Yondu in the movie. (Comingsoon.net)

Shout! Factory has announced that they will release Clive Barker’s cult horror film Nightbreed on home video in an Extended Director’s Cut in 2014. This new cut of the film will feature over 45 minutes of previously unreleased material and will restore Barker’s original vision of the film. (Indiewire)

Sherlock and Star Trek Into Darkness actor Benedict Cumberbatch has pulled out of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming gothic horror flick, Crimson Peak. No reason was given for his departure but Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska remain on board. (Variety)

NBC is developing a half-hour comedy series based on Ben Stiller’s 1994 movie, Reality Bites, which starred Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Janeane Garofalo, Steve Zahn and Stiller. Screenwriter Helen Childress has been hired to write the pilot with Stiller executive producing the series. (Zap2It)

The teaser trailer for the upcoming historical epic Pompeii is now available online. Directed by Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson, the movie stars Games of Thrones’ Kit Harrington, Emily Browning, Keifer Sutherland, Carrie Anne Moss and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
