**UPDATE** There are only 3 days left (you have until Tuesday, April 24, at 1 AM EST) to help support Brea Grant’s new movie, Best Friends Forever! Brea has created a video in which she talks about the movie and what it means to her (featured below). Remember, you can help just by donating $5 (or more!) and give up that coffee or snack you were going to get today. Be a part of film history and help fund original ideas! Donate now!
Every once in awhile I find something on Kickstarter that peaks my interest and that I think is deserving of any support I can provide financially or otherwise. So I wanted to take a moment to tell you all about a project that I’ve come across in hopes that you may be able to lend some support any way you can. At the very least, help spread the word to others! Actress and comic book writer Brea Grant (Heroes, Halloween II, Friday Night Lights, Dexter) has directed a film titled Best Friends Forever and is utilizing Kickstarter to help get the film through the post-production phase and be able to pay the people who put in their hard work making the movie! There are plenty of pledge incentives including a DVD copy of the film, custom artwork from artist Fabio Moon, tickets to exclusive screenings, the chance to get your own credit on IMDB and more!
Best Friends Forever is a dark comedy and sci-fi horror film, combining equal parts buddy film, road trip and nuclear apocalypse story, but with girls. Harriet, the perpetual but unsuccessful optimist, has finally figured out how to take her passion for comics and turn it into a responsible life. But when she and Reba, her seemingly devil-may-care best friend, hit the road to Austin, TX, an impending nuclear apocalypse endangers the best-laid plans and even the best of friendships.
The film was co-written by Brea Grant and her co-star Vera Miao (both pictured above) and is supported by a largely female crew, which is something you don’t see so much these days in the movie business. While the film will center mainly on Brea and Vera’s characters, there will be some additional cast members, including Firefly‘s Sean Maher, who has a brief role in a scene in the film. The campaign that Brea and Vera have on Kickstarter seems like something they are working very diligently at and are also having a lot of fun with. Each time a new milestone is met in their campaign, they make an entertaining video to thank all the supporters. They go out of their way to show their appreciation for all the support. That gratitude coupled with their spunky and fun attitudes helped secure my pledge to them. Well, that and my genuine interest in seeing their movie completed, plus I’m a sucker for an apocalyptic story.
So please, check out their Kickstarter here and donate to help them complete Best Friends Forever if you can. Even if you can’t donate, help spread the word on Twitter and Facebook! You can follow Brea Grant on Twitter (@breagrant) to see more updates regarding BFF. You can also check out the official site of the movie over at bestfriendsforever.com.
Here’s the cast and crew talking about what the film is about.
